This “secret” of Thirteen’s on House, why she went to prison. Yes, I need more details on that…stat! — Margo
No amount of doctor puns will get me to divulge the secret, but I can tell you that she isn’t crying over just anything in that preview you’ve seen. The secret/reason is incredibly heartbreaking. And Olivia Wilde says once it’s out there, we can expect to see it bring Thirteen and House closer than ever (…but not romantically). “She really does appreciate his acceptance of her, and sometimes, I think that she feels he’s the only person in the world who understands her. Certainly after this episode,” she says.

What does House say to Thirteen to make her tell the secret? Is it Cuddy related…? – Jordan
Yup. “It’s shocking to her because of the vulnerability that he expresses along with it,” Wilde says. “He’s been perfectly happy in the past to drop bombs about himself that he doesn’t seem to be very emotionally affected by, but it’s the fact that he seems thrown off his comfort base a bit. He’s reaching out to her and showing her his rawness.”

Latest from Ausiello

Question: What can you tell us about Episode 15 of House? I’ve seen a lot of stuff on Twitter from producers @GregYaitanes and @SaraHess, and even @MMRAW about some epic stuff: dance sequences, zombies…. What is going on?! —Reana
Ausiello: You wouldn’t believe me if I told you. You might, however, believe Hugh Laurie. “It contains some ingredients that we have not seen before on House — or many other television shows — for quite some time,” he teases. “It’s quite a trip. It’s a viewing trip but it’s also a trip trip. I haven’t seen the result of it yet, but I have the utmost confidence [in our producers]. I go where they point me. I’m a willing passenger on this journey.”

Question: Should we be nervous that Fox hasn’t renewed House for next season? —Joel
Ausiello: As coincidence would have it, I asked showrunners David Shore and Katie Jacobs exactly that question when I chatted them up at Fox’s press tour party. “I’m not worried about it,” said Shore, whose deal with House producer NBC Universal is up for renewal at season’s end. Jacobs seconded that emotion. “I can’t imagine it not coming back,” she said, adding that she’s still thinking up ways to extend the franchise when the day does come that the show ends. “I once thought of a Three’s Company kind of spinoff with Wilson, Cuddy and House,” she admitted. “I don’t think that will happen. But I have thought about it.”

Question: Is there any possibility of Jennifer Morrison returning to House this season? —Isabela
Ausiello: The possibility definitely exists, but Shore says there’s “nothing in the works at this time.”

Question: A while back you hinted that there would be two breakups this season on House. Were Wilson/Sam one of them? And, if so, can you ID Couple No. 2? —Jacob
Ausiello: Yes, Wilson/Sam were one of the two. I’m not going to spoil the other relationship that’s about to crater, but I will say this: I actually teased that there would be at least two breakups this season. The key words being at and least.

Question: When does Olivia Wilde return to House? —Joel
Ausiello: I believe her first episode back is 7.18.

Question: Can’t wait for Candice Bergen on House. What is her first encounter with House like? —Joel
Ausiello: He doesn’t know she’s Cuddy’s mom when they first meet, so I’m guessing it’s going to get awkward quick. BTW, two other notes about Candice: She arrives for Cuddy’s birthday, and her two episodes will be nonconsecutive.

Question: Should we read anything into Chase’s sexual overture to Thirteen on House last week? Was he really interested in her, or is it just a case of a horny single doctor? —Elizabeth
Ausiello: Let’s ask exec producer David Shore, shall we? David, should we read anything into Chase’s sexual overture to Thirteen on House last week? Was he really interested in her, or is it just a case of a horny single doctor? “If there is something more going on there, you won’t see it for a while,” he says, “because of Olivia [Wilde]‘s movie schedule [taking her off the canvas].”

‘House’ Exclusive: Thirteen will be MIA for ‘a while’

Don’t count on seeing much of Thirteen on House this season.

According to series creator David Shore, Olivia Wilde—who took a leave of absence this fall to shoot a starring role in the big-budget sci-fi Western Cowboys and Aliens—will be gone for more than just a handful of episodes.

“It’s going to be a while unfortunately,” sighs series creator David Shore. “We love her but it is going to be a while. It’s going to be this season, but well into this season.”

The news comes as Wilde’s movie career is heating up big-time. The actress has four films in the pipeline (Cowboys and Aliens included), and recently signed a deal to join Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman in the body-swapping comedy The Change Up.

Shore says Wilde’s Change Up shooting schedule won’t further delay her return to Princeton Plainsboro. “She called us up and said she wanted to do [The Change Up],” he explains. “And it just so happened that what we had worked out storyline-wise allowed her a couple of extra episodes [off]. So that movie just filled in the gap. There were no further adjustments to her schedule as a result of that.”

Fancast Spoilers

I am so super-excited about the ‘House’ premiere (airing Sept. 20)! Is it going to live up to the hype? – Lelinor
I think so, especially since Hugh Laurie and Lisa Edelstein act almost exclusively opposite each other in their scenes, and that results in a pretty intense character study à la last season’s psych ward opener. My only quibble is that throughout much of their (ahem) bonding, House is withholding one whopper of a secret from his lady love.

Does the ‘House’ premiere have anything worth watching for someone who doesn’t like “Huddy”? – Sabrina
Well, the Patient Of The Week is a pretty important doctor at Princeton Plainsboro. Also, the episode closes with a nifty twist I didn’t see coming.

Remember the spoiler pics with House and Cuddy at the beach? They were all over the Internet some weeks ago, but we haven’t seen any of these scenes in any promos. Will House and Cuddy really go on a “road trip”? – Ally
A trip is planned. I will say that much.

Are House and Cuddy on a first name basis now, at least outside of the hospital? – DeJune
Why, just because they are “together”? Nah, they still call each other “House” and “Cuddy”… and the occasional “Honeybuns.”

Have ‘House’s opening credits been changed yet? – Sophie
Do you mean, is Jennifer Morrison removed from them? No, her name and clip are still there, at least in the cut I saw.

The new group photo for ‘House’ indicates that there might be something going on between Chase and Thirteen. Does the premiere give something away about that? – Christina
Let’s just say that Chase drops a huge question at Thirteen’s footsteps – at what either is the best or worst-possible time.

Fancast – Info about Olivia Wilde

I’m a fan of ‘House.’ Is there any news? – Sunshiner
If only because Olivia Wilde brings so much pretty to the screen, I asked EP Katie Jacobs for just how long Thirteen will be MIA when the new season picks up. Katie though refused to give me a number, explaining in this red carpet video, “It’s linked to narrative. When Thirteen does come back, it’s not like she’s just going to be sitting in the office doing a diagnosis. There’s a real reason why she had to leave – it’s surprising and juicy and it deepens her character and our understanding of her.” Wilde’s return also won’t necessarily dictate a hasty exit for Amber Tamblyn’s newbie.

Some info about season 7

Thirteen‘s return date is a secret, because her absence/duration is a major story point.

Season-premiere picks about 20 minutes after the finale … meaning you’re probably gonna see some Huddy action.

The House producers assure me show will remain the same, even with Huddy in a play.
