Grouchy (but brilliant) diagnostician Gregory House and his attractive boss Lisa Cuddy are natural successors to Cheers’ Sam and Diane. ‘Huddy‘, as House and Cuddy are popularly known, snap and snipe at each other and the sexual tension is hotter than July.

Medical maverick Dr Gregory House has topped a list of the greatest television characters of the decade.

The role – played by Hugh Laurie on Fox’s House – beat Lost villain Benjamin Linus (Michael Emerson) in the TV Overmind poll.

The Wire’s Omar Little (Michael K. Williams) took third place in the list.

Other characters to make the top ten included Arrested Development’s Tobias Fünke (David Cross), Lost’s John Locke (Terry O’Quinn) and Fringe scientist Walter Bishop (John Noble).

No female television parts appeared in the list.

Hugh Laurie was recently nominated for an Emmy award for his performance as House.

House/Cuddy are nominated for Best Romantic Relationship and House is nominated for the “Most disappointing season of a previously awesome show”.
